With more than \u003Cstrong>300 days of sunshine a year\u003C\u002Fstrong> and the title of \u003Cstrong>European Capital of Gastronomic Culture 2026–2027\u003C\u002Fstrong>, Málaga is living its end-of-summer to the full. We've gone through the 24 events in our weekly agenda — here are the unmissable ones for 24–30 August.\u003C\u002Fp>\r\n\r\n\u003Ch2>The big one: Canela Party 2026\u003C\u002Fh2>\r\n\u003Cp>If one name defines this week, it's \u003Ca href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fcanelaparty.com\u002F\">Canela Party\u003C\u002Fa>, the indie music festival in Torremolinos celebrating its \u003Cstrong>18th edition from 27–29 August\u003C\u002Fstrong> at the Recinto Ferial. It arrives with one of the most ambitious line-ups in its history: Unknown Mortal Orchestra, The Beths, Deafheaven, Carolina Durante, Melody's Echo Chamber, Nation of Language, Baiuca, Mannequin Pussy, Wavves and more than thirty Spanish and international acts.\u003C\u002Fp>\r\n\u003Cp>Founded in 2008, Canela built its reputation by doing something almost provocative on the Costa del Sol: championing indie, alternative rock and cutting-edge electronica instead of summer pop. Its trademark is the \u003Cstrong>Gran Pitote\u003C\u002Fstrong>, Saturday's fancy-dress party that sums up the whole spirit: no one here takes themselves too seriously. It's one of the favourite end-of-summer send-offs for the alternative crowd.\u003C\u002Fp>\r\n\u003Cp>\u003Cem>Good to know:\u003C\u002Fem> Recinto Ferial de Torremolinos (Av. del Real). Passes from €99 at canelaparty.com, with cheaper per-person couple and four-packs. The first batch sold out in hours, so don't leave it late. Torremolinos is a short hop from Málaga city by metro (line 1) or commuter train (C-1), and the airport is under ten minutes away.\u003C\u002Fp>\r\n\r\n\u003Ch2>Free flamenco with La Lupi: Noctiluca Festival\u003C\u002Fh2>\r\n\u003Cp>The \u003Cstrong>3rd Noctiluca Flamenco Festival\u003C\u002Fstrong> brings deep song to Rincón de la Victoria from 28–30 August, across the Sala de las Musas in La Cala del Moral, the Auditorio Municipal and Benagalbón. The highlight comes \u003Cstrong>Saturday the 29th at 22:00\u003C\u002Fstrong>, when Málaga-born dancer \u003Cstrong>Susana Lupiáñez 'La Lupi'\u003C\u002Fstrong> presents her show \u003Cem>Lo Inédito\u003C\u002Fem> at the Auditorio Municipal.\u003C\u002Fp>\r\n\u003Cp>And the best news for anyone after \u003Cstrong>free things to do in Málaga\u003C\u002Fstrong>: thanks to an agreement between the culture department and the artist, entry is \u003Cstrong>completely free\u003C\u002Fstrong>. It's a rare chance to see one of the great figures of contemporary flamenco at no cost. The festival also includes courses and talks with names like Patricia Guerrero, director of the Andalusian Flamenco Ballet.\u003C\u002Fp>\r\n\r\n\u003Ch2>A taste of Cuba by the sea: La Pequeña Cuba\u003C\u002Fh2>\r\n\u003Cp>From 27–30 August, Paseo Marifé de Triana turns into a slice of Havana with the food-and-culture festival \u003Cstrong>La Pequeña Cuba\u003C\u002Fstrong> (\"Little Cuba\"), run by the Cubanos Unidos de Torremolinos association. Free entry, open from midday onwards, with stalls serving Cuban tamal, ropa vieja, the Cuban sandwich, chicharrones and island sweets, washed down with mojitos, daiquiris, piña colada and guarapo.\u003C\u002Fp>\r\n\u003Cp>Live music, dancing, animation and traditional crafts run all day. It's a perfect food-lover's plan for families or a long afternoon by the beach, and it fits right into Málaga's year as European Capital of Gastronomic Culture.\u003C\u002Fp>\r\n\r\n\u003Ch2>For those who never stop: San Antón Night Trail\u003C\u002Fh2>\r\n\u003Cp>\u003Cstrong>Friday the 28th at 21:30\u003C\u002Fstrong> marks the first-ever \u003Cstrong>San Antón Night Trail\u003C\u002Fstrong>, a night mountain race of 13.8 km and 685 m of elevation gain through the trails of Monte San Antón and the Arroyo Jaboneros, one of the city's most emblematic natural spaces. Start and finish at Parque Rafael Santiago García, in the La Mosca neighbourhood (East District).\u003C\u002Fp>\r\n\u003Cp>Places sold out in under 90 minutes, but it keeps its charitable heart: all proceeds go to the Málaga Cancer Patient Assistance Foundation (FMAEC), and you can still chip in with a \"bib 0\" even if you're not running.\u003C\u002Fp>\r\n\r\n\u003Ch2>More live music this week\u003C\u002Fh2>\r\n\u003Ch3>Festijoven 2026\u003C\u002Fh3>\r\n\u003Cp>The young-performers series returns to the Auditorio Eduardo Ocón, with Yolan Postigo on Tuesday the 25th and Quinteto XXI on Thursday the 27th, both at 20:30.
