Feria de Málaga 2026: dates, concerts and visitor guide

Feria de Málaga 2026 runs from 15 to 22 August 2026, with the celebrations effectively beginning on the evening of Friday 14 August. For eight days, Málaga splits the party between the Historic Centre and the Real del Cortijo de Torres, combining live music, verdiales, flamenco, horses, family activities, fairground rides and late-night celebrations.

The municipal programme includes close to 200 free shows and performances, making the Feria one of the biggest weeks of the year for events in Málaga. Below is a practical guide to the main dates, areas and headline performances.

The Feria commemorates a key moment in Málaga's history and has grown into the city's major summer festival, bringing traditional Andalusian culture together with large concerts and modern entertainment.

Friday 14 August: parade, drones and fireworks

The first big night starts before the official Feria dates. At 20:00, the Historical Parade of Málaga leaves Plaza de la Merced, with the ceremonial delivery of the city keys at 20:30 in Plaza de la Aduana before continuing through the Historic Centre.

Later, the focus moves to the Port of Málaga. A drone light show begins at 23:50, followed at 00:00 by the traditional pyromusical fireworks show from the access road to the cruise terminal. If you want the classic Feria opening-night atmosphere, this is the evening to be in the city.

Saturday 15 August: romería and the official opening

Saturday begins with one of the Feria's most traditional moments. Horses, carriages and pilgrims gather on Paseo del Parque at 10:00, before the procession leaves at 11:00 for the floral offering to Málaga's patron saint at the Basilica Sanctuary of Santa María de la Victoria.

At the Real del Cortijo de Torres, the official opening speech takes place at 21:30 on Avenida de las Malagueñas. The artistic lighting is switched on at 22:00, marking the full opening of the night fair.

Day fair in Málaga's Historic Centre

During the day, the centre becomes the most walkable part of the Feria. Expect live music and street atmosphere around Plaza de la Constitución, Calle Marqués de Larios, Plaza de las Flores, Plaza del Obispo and nearby streets.

Calle Larios hosts daily verdiales groups and Málaga folk performances, while Peña Juan Breva presents flamenco events during the afternoon. The official programme also includes music in the central squares, generally running into the late afternoon. Municipal Feria activities in the Historic Centre are scheduled to finish at 18:00.

Night fair at the Real del Cortijo de Torres

The Real is where the Feria gets bigger after dark. The fairground combines municipal casetas, music stages, traditional performances, horse shows, food and drink, and the amusement rides area. From 16 August onwards, the official programme includes a carriage and horse parade from 12:00 to 20:00 through the fairground.

There are also daily verdiales performances, flamenco and copla, a children's caseta, equestrian shows and DJ sessions in the Youth Plaza.

Free headline concerts at the Municipal Auditorium

One of the strongest parts of the 2026 programme is the run of free municipal concerts at the Real del Cortijo de Torres. Headline acts include:

Admission to these municipal shows is free, but popular nights can become busy, so arriving early is sensible.

Family activities: Feria Mágica and children's shows

Families have plenty to do beyond the rides. From 16 to 22 August, Plaza de la Merced hosts the Feria Mágica programme from 12:00 to 15:30, with games, workshops, theatre, puppets, parades, magic and music.

At the Real, the Municipal Children's Caseta has a different show at 21:30 each night, including theatre, puppets and magic.

Getting between the centre and the Real

Public transport is the simplest option during the busiest Feria days. Málaga's EMT is increasing services for the week. The special Line F connects the Feria in the centre with Cortijo de Torres 24 hours a day, while 16 special night lines connect neighbourhoods with the Real. The special Feria fare remains €2.

Driving into the centre or close to the fairground can be slow because of traffic restrictions and the number of visitors, so buses, metro and walking are usually the easier choices.

Tips for enjoying Feria de Málaga 2026

• Choose the Historic Centre during the day for street music, verdiales and the classic city atmosphere.
• Go to the Real del Cortijo de Torres in the evening for concerts, casetas, rides and larger-scale entertainment.
• Expect strong August sun during daytime events; carry water and use sun protection.
• For the opening fireworks and the biggest concerts, arrive early and expect crowded transport.
